Though using SSL is not difficult, very few folks have taken the plunge to actually secure their data. This workshop-type setup will take you through the steps needed to enable SSL on your mysqld server, how to allow users to use SSL and how to require users to use SSL.
There will also be some benchmarking to see what the affect of encryption actually is.
Sheeri K. Cabral is a Database Team Lead at the Pythian Group, and has a master’s degree in computer science specializing in databases from Brandeis University. She has background as a systems administrator; has worked with Oracle, Sybase, DB2, Solaris, RedHat/Fedora/Debian, AIX, and HP-UX.
